Discover Lake Weyba

If you are visiting Noosa or Peregian Beach, a visit to Lake Weyba is well worth the time.

The lake is an incredible natural attraction and considered by locals to be a well-kept secret.   Its just a 5 minute drive from Peregian Beach and 15 minutes from Noosa.

One of the best ways to take in the wildlife is to take a canoe and reconnect with nature.

The birdlife is amazing and includes herons, cormorants and egrets. Lake Weyba is also of ecological importance with mangrove forests and seagrass. The lake is also known for marine life such as sand crabs and mud crabs.

The name Weyba is derived from an aboriginal word meaning stingray and these creatures can be seen in abundance. The lake is of international importance for migratory birds and is also an integral part of the Noosa Biosphere.

There is also a 3km return foreshore walk – it does not go the full way around the lake but the scenery is spectacular.

The lake is shallow so only catamarans and small flat bottom tinnier are recommended. However the water of the lake is clear and makes for a great place to swim. Kite surfing is also popular.

There is plenty of parking but no public toilets or BBQ facilities. It is also a council approved on-leash dog area.
